Hit the beaches

No visit to Inverloch is complete without soaking up Inverloch's breezy maritime vibes. For gentle surf and little-people sized waves, head to the Inverloch Foreshore a protected inlet, or for stronger waves and fantastic surfing breaks hit the Surf Beach to the west of the town centre.

There are a series of coves between Inverloch and Cape Paterson known for surfing and snorkelling - try The Caves for rock fossicking, Shack Bay or The Oaks. The Bunurong Coastal Drive hugs the cliff top overlooking the spectacular coastline, delivering lush panoramas.

Walks and wonders

The Inverloch Foreshore Walking Track is your go-to for a leisurely stroll along the foreshore around the town centre. This 5km round-trip offers picturesque views of Anderson Inlet and Point Smythe. Enjoy the beautiful Screw Creek Nature Walk (1.5km), which winds through salt marshes and mangroves as it ascends Townsend Bluff, rewarding with stunning vistas of Anderson Inlet.

While it's a solid 20 min drive back toward Melbourne, the George Bass Coastal Walk steals hearts without even trying. Perhaps it's those gob-smacking high cliffs, or the dramatic rocky coastline or sections that traverse secluded beaches, but we're pretty sure this 7km walk is just showing off.

Along the rocky shore of The Caves, about five minutes out of town, is the site where more than 15,000 bones, teeth and footprints from small dinosaurs have been found. Head down to the Dinosaur Dreaming site at low tide and walk in the footprints of those beasts who ruled the earth, with items dated to 115 million years ago.

This 90 min tour (min 4 people) provides a gentle introduction to the small agritourism farm with big dreams! Visit Wattle Bank Farm's mushroom farm and do a tasting, wander through the permaculture garden and meet with the resident horses.

Join a Sunday morning 2 hour pop-in session where each rider or group is set up based on experience - bareback riding, jumping course or horse care.

Or, for those with horse riding experience, you can take a 2 hour trail ride (min 3 people). If you're dying to join the trail ride but don't have experience, you can get up to speed on a 1 hour private lesson before you ride.
