Community feedback wanted on Baw Baw Shire Council draft Procurement Policy to check for transparency and best practices by 25 July 2024

Baw Baw Shire Council seeks community input on its Draft Procurement Policy, emphasising transparency and compliance with best practices. Residents and stakeholders are invited to review and provide feedback by July 25 via Baw Baw Connect.

Baw Baw Shire Council is seeking feedback from the community to help inform its Draft Procurement Policy. The draft policy, which the community can now view and have their say on, outlines the principles, processes and procedures that apply to the purchase of goods, services, and works carried out by council. Council is committed to open, fair, and transparent procurement, and must review its procurement policy at least once during each four-year term of the council.

Additionally, the Draft Procurement Policy has been updated to align with best practice measures in the sector, as outlined in the recently released Victorian Local Government Best Practices Procurement Guidelines 2024. Key stakeholders, along with residents, are invited to provide their feedback on the policy, which will be considered by council, prior to the final document being adopted.

Baw Baw Shire Mayor Cr Annemarie McCabe said she encouraged community members to take the opportunity to give their feedback. "It's council's responsibility to ensure that all its procurement activities follow best practice principles, which includes value for money, open and fair competition, and transparency."

"We're really ramping up on our community engagement, so whether the policy affects you directly as one of our current suppliers, or you're a resident who is interested in reviewing a council policy - I'd encourage everyone to take the survey and have their voice heard," Cr McCabe said.
