National Volunteer Week (19 - 25 May) celebrates volunteers' vital role in building thriving communities, with this year's theme: 'Connecting Communities'
Celebrating local volunteers
Volunteers are the backbone of South Gippsland. In a time when people are increasingly busy and time-poor, we are fortunate to have so many individuals willing to give their time to improve and support our region. In South Gippsland 22 percent of people volunteer which is higher than both the regional and state-wide average of 13 percent, which is a terrific testament to our region.
At council, we are proud to have around 60 dedicated volunteers contributing across a wide range of services, including Coal Creek, the Visitor Information Centre, youth services, cultural collections, and more.
We are deeply grateful for the passion, dedication, and support volunteers bring to South Gippsland. These efforts help shape a stronger and more connected region. Thank you to everyone who volunteers in the community. This generosity and commitment is truly inspiring, and we are extremely grateful.
