South Gippsland Coastal Strategy Engagement extended to 14 February 2023
The engagement period for the South Gippsland Coastal Strategy has been extended to 14 February.
The Coastal Strategy will provide strategic direction for South Gippsland's coastal areas and guide sustainable land use and development. South Gippsland Shire Council has received a lot of feedback in relation to what should be included in the strategy, what coastal areas people think are most at risk, and the challenges and opportunities facing coastal communities.

However, it was decided that an extended deadline would give community groups and people who may have been away for the school holidays a longer chance to have their say.
The Coastal Strategy document will be important for our coastal communities as it will help council and the community plan for future challenges such as increasing demand for residential and commercial development in coastal areas, climate change risks and ageing infrastructure.
Feedback can be provided at South Gippsland Coastal Strategy page.
Engaging with local community
Cr Nathan Hersey, Mayor South Gippsland Shire Council said, "If you haven't yet had your say on the development of a Coastal Strategy for South Gippsland, I would encourage you to do so."
"Our coastline is a much-loved asset for everyone in South Gippsland and we want to hear from as many people as possible on how it should be protected for the future. This is another example of South Gippsland Shire Councillors being committed to engaging with our local community." Cr Hersey said.
