Moe Albert Street Primary Junior School Council celebrates success with new benches installation
Moe Albert Street Primary's JSC secured two benches after two years of lobbying. Martin Cameron MP unveiled one bench installed by council and donated another, rewarding their dedicated advocacy efforts.
Students from Moe Albert Street Primary School's Junior School Council (JSC) have been rewarded for their tireless community advocacy after two years lobbying for benches to be installed at the school entrance. The Nationals' Member for Morwell, Martin Cameron, visited the JSC this week for the grand unveiling of two benches - one installed by Latrobe City Council, and the other donated by Mr Cameron.

Students' advocacy rewarded
Mr Cameron said, "Last year the JSC wrote to me after students identified there was a need for seating at the front of the school for parents and carers. They made a very compelling argument and requested a letter of support for their proposal to council, which I very happily provided. The JSC was successful in having one bench installed by council, but budgetary constraints meant there wasn't any funding left for a second bench."
"Not disheartened by this, the JSC wrote to me again recently and well and truly sold their case for a second bench, so I was very happy to personally donate one as a reward for all their effort on behalf of their community. It's advocacy like this at all levels of government that can really make a difference; whether it be something as small as having a bench installed or bringing jobs to the region."
"Congratulations to the Moe Albert Street Primary School JSC for all their hard work, and thanks for having me be part of a very special day. I also want to give a shout out to the bench manufacturers, Activity Playgrounds, who heard about the efforts of the JSC and generously delivered it to my office free of charge," Mr Cameron said.
