Expression of interest wanted for Leongatha Railway Precinct Mural Project for artists to deliver murals and liaise with stakeholders
Seeking experienced artists for Leongatha Railway Precinct's mural project. Transforming a plain facade into a community-engaging artwork for the redeveloped site.
This EOI process calls for artists with experience in delivering high quality murals. The Leongatha railway yards have been falling into disrepair since the railway line closed in 1993. Now, thirty years later, the Leongatha Railway Precinct is undergoing a major redevelopment to better serve the Leongatha community and visitors to the region. It is anticipated that the precinct will become a destination for people using the rail trail and for community groups to hold events such as markets.
Following the EOI process, three artists will be chosen to develop their concepts, up to two artists will be selected to create a large-scale artwork directly on the wall's surface
Community-engaging transformation
The Railway Precinct Mural Project seeks to transform this rear facade from a plain grey surface to one that engages the community and activates the refurbished site. South Gippsland Shire Council is seeking expressions of interest from artists with experience in both delivering high quality murals and liaising with stakeholders for this upcoming project.
For more information and/or to find out how to apply, please head to the Railway Precinct Mural Project: Expression of Interest page.
