Free community events in across Latrobe City for Australia Day 2024
Celebrate Australia Day in Latrobe City with free community events and a pool party with free entry, a Citizenship Ceremony, and Australia Day Awards live streamed on council's YouTube channel.
Several community events will be held across Latrobe City on Australia Day. Free community events will be held in Boolarra, Churchill, Moe, Morwell, Toongabbie, Traralgon, Yallourn North and Yinnar. Events include a variety of activities; free breakfasts, live music, flag raising and family entertainment.
Latrobe City Council Australia Day Awards celebrate community contributions. Anyone can nominate, and all eligible nominees will receive recognition on 26 January 2024
Free pool party
Council is throwing the ultimate pool party and invites the community to make a splash with free entry to the Moe and Yallourn North outdoor pools, Churchill, Moe Newborough and Morwell Leisure Centres, along with the Gippsland Regional Aquatic Centre in Traralgon (GRAC). New citizens will be welcomed at a Citizenship Ceremony.
Our Australia Day Awards will commence at 1pm and will be livestreamed via council's YouTube channel. Award categories include Citizen of the Year, Community Service of the Year, Event of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, and Senior of the Year.
Community day extravaganza
Mayor of Latrobe City Council, Councillor Darren Howe said there would be a lot on offer during the day. "We are providing opportunities for our community to come together and share in a range of activities. There is going to be lots happening and plenty for the whole family to enjoy."
"We are also excited to acknowledge the incredible community efforts of Latrobe City citizens with our Australia Day Awards and welcome new citizens at our Citizenship Ceremony," said the Mayor.
