Surf Beach and Sunderland Bay Project concept plans need community feedback from Bass Coast residents
Bass Coast Shire Council will continue its development of concept plans for the potential special charge scheme for road and drainage upgrade works for the Surf Beach and Sunderland Bay estates.
Following community consultation in late 2021 and the council decision in March this year to proceed to the Project Planning Phase, council is now seeking further community input, to inform the development of concept plans, cost estimates and proportioning of costs for the potential scheme. Bass Coast Shire Mayor, Cr Michael Whelan said that residents of these estates should have received a new questionnaire and supporting information in the mail, to enable them to provide their feedback.
The Surf Beach and Sunderland Bay estates are the highest priority on council's Urban Road and Drainage Improvement Policy Priority List
Guiding the development
Cr Whelan said, "We are inviting everyone who is interested in this project to participate and guide the development of the concept plans, so that a range of options can be drafted and presented back to the community."
"We know that many property owners in these estates are currently experiencing drainage and dust issues. Therefore, the focus of this round of community consultation is on the aspects of the design that relate to streetscaping characteristics, intersection and traffic calming devices, footpaths, parking, lighting, as well as interim dust treatments and speed reduction measures," Cr Whelan concluded.

Feedback can also be provided online, through our Engage Bass Coast website, at Surf Beach Sunderland Bay.
