Cape Woolamai residents and Bass Coast Shire Council outraged as part of foreshore destroyed
Cape Woolamai residents and Council are outraged that a small number of people have once again destroyed part of Cape Woolamai Foreshore, in order to create a BMX and motorbike track.
Council recently cleaned up the mess made by the previous illegal creation of a BMX track, which included the deliberate removal of indigenous vegetation within the important conservation reserve. The work to rehabilitate the site included use of an excavator to remove the jumps and reinstate the natural soil surface. Council also put up a fence to restrict access, and a sign to raise awareness that this area is protected.

Taking all necessary action
Bass Coast Shire Council Mayor, Cr Michael Whelan states "Council does not tolerate blatant damage to precious foreshore vegetation, and will again be removing the track and rehabilitating the site."
"Council officers have been monitoring the site for further activity, and we will take all necessary action to prevent this from happening again. We have raised our concerns with local police and these works are considered vandalism. We encourage those involved to stop immediately." Cr Whelan said.
