Spartans will head to the gorgeous Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort for an epic long weekend on 25-26 February where they will be pushed outside their comfort zones for the world's most popular obstacle race. While children attack the Spartan Kids course, adults will navigate up to 60 obstacles as they criss-cross the mountain or participate in the team building SAS challenge.

The two-day event will feature four race distances ranging from 5-50 km and over 2,000 participants aged four and over are expected to tackle the course across the weekend

Fun festival vibes

To make it easy to get up the mountain and take part in the excitement, participants and spectators can pre-book the Spartan Gippsland Park & Ride return shuttle service, which will operate on both days. The shuttle will depart from the Erica Football Oval located on Moe-Walhalla Road, Erica and transfer athletes and spectators to Mt Baw Baw.

Once competitors have conquered the Spartan course, they can head to Mt Baw Baw Resort Village, where the Spartan team will be on hand to provide fun festival vibes and the opportunity for competitors to kick back, enjoy a finish-line beverage, grab a bite to eat, and show off their hard-earned race bling.

"We are extremely excited to bring the Trifecta Weekend to a new and epic venue!" says Spartan Australia&NZ Managing Director Chris Heverin. "The Spartan Australia&NZ team is looking forward to hosting our race at Mount Baw Baw and having the country's best obstacle racers experience the rugged beauty of this alpine area." Mr Heverin said.

Benefits of the event

The Spartan Alpine Race is one of four major events delivered as part of Baw Baw Shire Council's Economic Development and Visitor Economy Strategy in 2023. The events are designed to have:

  • Significant economic impact
  • Increase visitor numbers
  • Create additional expenditure
