Danny O'Brien encourages Gippsland Football and Netball Clubs to apply for facility funding before 7 July 2025 deadline
Gippsland football and netball clubs can apply for grants up to $250,000 to upgrade facilities. Applications for the Country Football and Netball Program close Monday, 7 July 2025.
Country football and netball season has officially kicked off and Gippsland clubs have a chance to apply for state government funding to improve their local facilities. The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O'Brien is encouraging all football and netball clubs, associations and umpiring organisations across Gippsland South to apply for the latest round of grants under the Country Football and Netball Program.

Facility grants available
Mr O'Brien said applications can be made for grants of up to $250,000 to develop facilities which could include a variety of projects including new change rooms, upgrading lighting, improving water efficiency and more.
"Grassroots football and netball is where it all begins and having great facilities encourages more participation and in turn provides great social and health benefits for the community. There are a number of funding options available throughout the year to assist with improving sporting facilities and it has been fantastic to see some of our local clubs cash in on that," Mr O'Brien said.
Netball upgrades celebrated
Mr O'Brien said he was delighted to visit the recently resurfaced outdoor courts at the Gippsland Regional Sports Complex where he met with Sale Netball Association (SNA) representative netball coordinator Sheree Pape and local netballers who proudly showed off their new dresses and fresh bibs for our 2025 Rep Teams.
"These new dresses and bibs were funded through the state government's Sporting Club Grants Program and Toyota's Good2Give grant program. The netball courts at the home of Meeniyan Dumbalk United Football Netball Club have also been resurfaced this year and will be benefiting from a new electronic scoreboard thanks to a Tiny Towns grant from Regional Development Victoria and a community grant from South Gippsland Shire Council," Mr O'Brien said.
Sporting facilities funding
Mr O'Brien said it was great to see our local clubs looking for and applying to a variety of funding streams to help better sporting facilities right across our region. "There are still a number of clubs across Gippsland South that need upgrades, especially female change rooms and I encourage them to apply for funds."
"While these grants are targeted at football and netball clubs, the flow on impacts benefit the community as a whole. When clubs are successful the local economy is stimulated with a creation of jobs to get the work done which is a win for the whole community," Mr O'Brien said.
Applications for the current round of the Country Football and Netball program close on Monday, 7 July 2025. Clubs must register their interest to their local council. For further information visit Sport and Recreation Victoria website.
