Sale swimming pool complex in Wellington Shire undergoes major redevelopment with over $20M government funding
The largest capital works project in Wellington Shire delivered through collaboration of government levels and local businesses, emphasising the long-term social and economic benefits for the community.
The largest capital works project in Wellington Shire will deliver social and economic benefits for decades into the future, according to Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester. Mr Chester said the major redevelopment of the Sale swimming pool complex, Aqua Energy, was a great example of all levels of government working together to deliver important infrastructure.

Community wellness upgrade
Mr Chester said, "It's terrific to see a Gippsland business, Brooker Builders, winning the contract to deliver a project that will improve the health and wellbeing of the local community for generations to come."
"Funding has been received from three levels of government to undertake this much-needed redevelopment of the facility which hasn't changed much since I was a boy attending school swimming classes in the 1970s. In addition to government funding, the project has received philanthropic support through the John Leslie Foundation and it will be a major boost to the town," he said.
Council project progress
Mr Chester said the Council-run project was budgeted to cost more than $20 million and would deliver a new heated indoor swimming pool along with major improvements to the fitness centre and associated facilities.
"The demolition works are well advanced and construction has already started to provide a more accessible gym and a more functional facility for all users. In addition to the jobs during the construction phase, there will be ongoing employment opportunities for a range of skilled workers at the improved facility," Mr Chester said.
