A draft concept design for Graydens Reserve in Newhaven is now available and Bass Coast Shire Council is asking for your feedback. Earlier this year we asked the community for their thoughts on what the future of Graydens Reserve could look like.

Graydens Reserve, a vibrant hub at Phillip Island's gateway, offers basketball, playgrounds, and green spaces. To meet evolving needs, Council plans to upgrade it while accommodating future roundabout construction by Regional Roads Victoria

Concept design highlights

Bass Coast Mayor Cr Clare Le Serve explained what we heard from the community about this loved and well-used community park. "The design brings together a large amount of community consultation. The key themes we heard from our community include the desire to keep all the trees and maintain the open green space within the Reserve."

"Graydens Reserve is known for being a popular place for families and friends to gather and socialise. It was important for the design to appeal and be suitable for all age groups" Cr Le Serve said.

Draft design features

With this in mind, the draft concept design includes:

  • Accessible pathways with seating and picnic table
  • Relocated playspace which includes a nature-based theme with climbing elements and a basket swing while making the most of natural shade
  • Additional trees and gardens
  • Small beginner-level skate park
  • Addition of netball and soccer goals onto the existing basketball half-court

This design also takes into account the future plans of Regional Roads Victoria for Phillip Island Road.
