Darren Chester supports Latrobe City's Gaskin Park redevelopment, advocating for federal government investment
Darren Chester supports Latrobe City's Gaskin Park redevelopment, lobbying for federal funding to upgrade facilities, promote active lifestyles, and meet community needs after years of stalled investment.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester is backing a Latrobe City Council plan to undertake a major redevelopment of facilities at Gaskin Park in Churchill. Mr Chester has met with Latrobe City representatives and inspected the facility, which he says doesn't meet the growing needs of the community.

Recreation funding push
Mr Chester said, "By working closely with Council and community organisations in the past, we have been able to secure funding for some much-needed improvements to recreation reserves and change room facilities across Latrobe City."
"Sadly, there has been a 'funding strike' by the Labor Party over the last three years, and the pipeline of projects has dried up. I am lobbying my Coalition colleagues in Canberra for funding to help deliver projects like the Gaskin Park redevelopment."
"Providing opportunities for people of all ages to enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle means investing in facilities that cater for men and women. This project is well-designed and ready for an investment by the federal government to bring it up to modern standards," said Mr Chester.
