Bass Coast Community Vision 2041 with plan for 2021-25 and financial plan 2021-31 adopted by Bass Coast Shire Council

Bass Coast Shire Council is pleased to have adopted the Bass Coast Community Vision 2041, the Council Plan 2021-25 and the Long Term Financial Plan 2021-31 at its Meeting on Wednesday.

These exciting pieces of work will help set the strategic direction of the council for the future, based on community needs and aspirations. Bass Coast Shire Mayor, Cr Brett Tessari said that the Community Vision is unique and represents the first time that the community has wholly developed something on behalf of council.

The Council Plan 2021-25 brings together feedback we have received through community engagement and identifies our priority focus areas over the next four years

Help lead Bass Coast

Cr Tessari said, "The Community Vision 2041 was developed by the Bass Coast Community Panel made up of over 40 members, representing a broad cross-section of the community. This fantastic group of people has created a vision statement and developed themes, community aspirations and priorities, that will help lead Bass Coast into the future."

The Vision's Themes of Climate Emergency and Climate Preparedness, Protect and Enhance Natural Environment, Healthy and Inclusive Communities, Access and Movement and Education, Creative Economy and Industry underpin the Council Plan 2021-25.

Having a strong connection

The Council Plan was developed through broad and deliberative engagement with the community and provides a strategic direction to guide Council's work for the next four years. "There is a really strong connection between the Community Vision 2041 and the Council Plan 2021-25, which were both developed through genuine engagement," Cr Tessari said.

"The Council Plan is highly representative of the issues and priorities of the community. I would like to thank our Panel, as well as the community members who provided feedback and engaged with us, to ensure the vision and council plan reflect the needs of the community." Cr Tessari said.

Long term financial plan

The Long Term Financial Plan (LTFP) provides Council and the community with an overview of projected revenue and expenditure estimates for the next 10 years. "The LTFP is aligned to the Council Plan 2021-25 and provides for the funding of a number of priority projects over the next four years,"

"These include the Climate Change Action Plan, tracks and trails, place making initiatives including Cowes Cultural and Community Centre, Wonthaggi Activity Centre Plan and Smith Beach Master Plan and projects that are targeted at improving our visitor economy including the Dinosaurs Trail and the Rhyll boat ramp and jetty redevelopment." Cr Tessari said.
