Grand Ridge Road landslip repairs underway and other updates on South Gippsland Council projects
Remediation works on Grand Ridge Road are complete, landslip damage repaired, and temporary load limits lifted. The road is now fully open, restoring access to one of Victoria's iconic tourist drives.
Remediation works addressing landslips on Grand Ridge Road have been successfully completed! As a result, all temporary load limits previously in place have been lifted, and the road is now open to all traffic. Council appreciates the patience and cooperation of all road users during the course of these necessary repairs and we are pleased that the road can now be used to its full extent once again.

Gippsland's Grand Ridge Road is one of the great tourist drives in Victoria. For 132 kilometres it snakes its way along the ridge of the Strzelecki Ranges, providing striking views across the emerald-green farmlands to the Latrobe Valley in the north and Bass Strait in the south. V/Line coach service
Have your say on the V/Line coach service between Yarram, Leongatha, Koo Wee Rup and Melbourne. The Department of Transport and Planning is looking to increase services on the Yarram to Melbourne coach service and they want to hear from South Gippsland locals and visitors.

Draft 2025 transmission plan
VicGrid has released a Draft 2025 Victorian Transmission Plan. The Plan sets out how much more wind and solar energy Victoria is expected to need over the next 15 years and identifies the most suitable locations for new renewable energy and transmission projects.

The Gippsland Emergency Relief Fund (GERF), together with the experts at Resilient Building Council, are offering FREE workshops in South Gippsland to help homeowners prepare for bushfires and other natural disasters.
Want to understand your home's vulnerabilities? Learn practical ways to improve resilience? Highly regarded resilience experts are here to answer your questions. There are four workshops to choose from in South Gippsland:

- Tuesday 17 June in Venus Bay
- Tuesday 22 July in Mirboo North
- Tuesday 22 July in Leongatha

Flying Doctors Dental Clinic

Measles in Victoria
A new measles case has been reported in Victoria. Measles is a viral illness that spreads very easily and sometimes causes serious illness. It can be prevented with two Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccines, given one month or more apart.

Victorian Senior of the Year Awards - Nominations Extended
Nominations for the 2025 Victorian Senior of the Year Awards have been extended. These awards celebrate older Victorians who generously share their time, skills and experience to benefit their communities.
If you know a stellar senior-aged person, you can nominate them for recognition through this State awards program. Nominations are open until Sunday 8 June, and nominees must be aged 60 years and older, or 50 years and older for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Victorians. Naming of Poowong Roads
South Gippsland Shire Council has received a request to name two new roads to be created as part of the approved plans for Planning Permit 2021/321 for 14 Brisbane Street, Poowong, near the corner of Ranceby Road and Gardners Land, Poowong.
