Baw Baw celebrates Walk to School Week with competition encouraging students to participate 17 - 20 October 2022In celebration of Walk to School Week, participating schools will take part in a Baw Baw Shire Council-led competition encouraging students to walk, ride, scoot or skate to and from school to develop healthy and active practices for the future. By news@gippsland - 17th October 2022 - Back to News Between Monday 17 October and Friday 21 October, students from participating primary schools across the Shire will opt for healthy travel methods to and from school to reinforce the importance of healthy habits and to encourage connectedness amongst their peers. The participating schools are divided into two divisions based on their student enrolment numbers. 
Council's Walk to School Competition is part of VicHealth's Walk to School initiative encouraging kids to be active before and after school all throughout the year Winners and second placesThe number of participants from each school will be tallied at the end of the week and the school with the highest percentage of participating students will be named the winners in their division. The prizes for winners and second place include: - Winner(s) - Sports activity pack valued at $500
- Runners Up - Sports activity pack valued at $150
Council's Walk to School Competition is part of VicHealth's wider Walk to School initiative encouraging young people to be active before and after school all throughout the year. Walk to School sets children up for healthy, active lives and also makes the streets around our schools safer and less congested.
