Development of Traralgon West to progress as Latrobe City Council upholds Plan Amendment C144
Notice of rescission motion failed; Development Plan Overlay process to proceed, addressing community concerns without rezoning Traralgon Golf Club land. Future strategic planning involves stakeholders.
On Tuesday night 19 December, council voted to uphold the resolution from the 4 December council meeting relating to Planning Scheme Amendment C144. Following the December council meeting, a Notice of Motion was made to rescind the resolution to commence the Planning Scheme Amendment C144 process which relates to the Traralgon West precinct.
Motion to cancel Amendment C144 failed, council proceeds with Development Plan Overlay for Traralgon West as per resolution
Planning scheme amendment
As the notice of motion was not supported, Latrobe City Council will now progress the preparation of a Planning Scheme Amendment to introduce a Development Plan Overlay on the area in Traralgon West, in line with the resolution from the December council meeting. The Development Plan Overlay will require the future preparation of a Development Plan and associated technical documents.
This will consider the preferred zone for the land within the area including both residential and non-residential uses, lot yield, flora and fauna assessment, staging of development, requirements for infrastructure and airport traffic safety. The meeting provided an opportunity for council to address community concerns, including the Traralgon Golf Club, and reconfirmed council's resolution not propose for the rezoning of the Golf Club land.
The resolution requires a future report to be presented to council outlining concerns raised by Traralgon Golf Club representatives. Council will work with the Traralgon Golf Club, landowners and community members located within the precinct as part of the future strategic planning work for the area.
