Drouin Secondary College staff member with 55 years service congratulated by Minister Ben Carroll for dedication

Eastern Victoria's longest-serving teachers were honoured for their dedication. Minister Ben Carroll congratulated 275 staff for decades of service. Drouin Secondary College has a staff member with 55 years dedicated.

Eastern Victoria is home to 7 of Victoria's longest-serving teachers, who have been recognised for their dedication to schools, students, and families with a Recognition of Service to Victorian Education honour. Minister for Education Ben Carroll congratulated 275 staff on being honoured for 40, 45, 50 and 55 years of service to public education in Victoria at an official celebration at the Pullman Melbourne on the Park on Sunday, 19 May.

The annual service recognition award honours dedicated teacher, the Allan Labor government is investing heavily in school workforce initiatives to ensure a strong, sustainable future

Education service milestones

They include Drouin Secondary College which has 1 staff member, who has dedicated 55 years to public education. Statewide, 166 people are being honoured for 40 years of service, 49 for 45 years, 49 for 50 years and 11 for 55 years. Others being recognised in Eastern Victoria Region this year, include:

• Trafalgar Primary School with 1 staff member with 40 years
• Morwell Park Primary School with 1 staff member with 40 years
• Lowanna College with 1 staff member with 40 years
• Morwell Central Primary School with 1 staff member with 40 years
• Lilydale High School with 1 staff member with 45 years
• Grey Street Primary School - Traralgon with 1 staff member with 50 years

The Allan Labor Government is making a record investment in school workforce initiatives to attract, recruit, support and retain teachers and support staff, ensuring a strong and sustainable school workforce well into the future.

Education honours recognised

Minister for Education Ben Carroll said, "I thank all the long-serving teachers and staff being recognised for their contribution to education in Victoria that has spanned multiple generations. I know everyone in Eastern Victoria joins us in offering their congratulations to these dedicated professionals, who have spent decades tirelessly supporting our children and young people. Long-serving teachers and support staff are the backbone of our education system and I congratulate those being honoured this year on their well-deserved recognition."

These honours reflect the care and dedication of a number of wonderful teachers across the Eastern Victoria Region.
