Works for off-leash dog parks at Brooker Park in Warragul and Bellbird Park in Drouin to start 9 February 2023
Baw Baw Shire Council is pleased to announce the commencement of works to upgrade the off-leash dog parks at Brooker Park, Warragul and Bellbird Park, Drouin.
The off-leash dog parks upgrades are being made in response to extensive feedback received from the local community to enhance the existing facilities to create a more enjoyable and safer environment for dogs and their owners. 49 community submissions were received during open public consultation in October 2022. Those submissions have informed upgrades that include fencing, new shelters and shade structures, seating, new gravel pathways and improved drainage. To allow for the works, there will be intermittent closures at each site.

Upgrading off-leash parks
Brooker Park, Warragul will close initially for an estimated two days beginning Thursday 9 February for fencing works, followed by closure of similar length later in the month for gravel pathways and another closure around June for the installation of the shelter.
Bellbird Park, Drouin will close on or about Monday 13 February for approximately two weeks to allow for extensive drainage improvements. A subsequent brief closure to install fencing will take place in late February/early March, followed by another closure expected around June for shelter installation works.
Also included in the dog park upgrade project is Hollydell Park in Trafalgar. Council continues to work with the Trafalgar community before commencing to progress those works.

Improved facilities
Mayor of Baw Baw Shire Cr Annemarie McCabe said, "These improved parks are something our community has been calling for, and we're thrilled to see the works get underway," she said.
"I would like to thank everyone who contributed their input during the consultation process. I have no doubt that that local dog-loving community - and their furry friends - will enjoy the improved facilities at Brooker Park and Bellbird Park for years to come." Ms McCabe said.
