Council is seeking feedback on a new Children and Families Plan for South Gippsland. The Plan is part of South Gippsland Shire Council's commitment to supporting children and families to feel that they belong and can be happy, healthy and develop to their full potential. Feedback from people with children 12 and under are encouraged, along with those who provide services that children and their families currently use, or may use in the future.

Family support network

South Gippsland Shire Council delivers many services that support children and families including maternal and child health, immunisation, supported playgroups, new parent programs, centralised registration for kindergarten, and provides buildings and spaces where programs and services can operate from.

There are also universal facilities and services that help improve the lives of children, families and others in our community such as playgrounds, open space, swimming pools, leisure centres, libraries, community events
and social services.

There are many ways to get involved to help us understand more about what is important to our children and families, and what might need to change to better support you and your family. This includes an online survey, online ideas board, online focus groups and physical short surveys at community places like kindergartens, childcare centres and libraries. For more information and to get involved, please visit Children and Families Plan page.

Child-focused collaboration

Cr Nathan Hersey, Mayor South Gippsland Shire Council said, "With the opening of the Leongatha Early Learning Centre last week, it is the perfect time to continue the conversation about what South Gippsland's children and families need now and into the future."

"Council offers many services that are utilised by our children and families, as well as some of our close partners, so it is important that we all work together to continue to improve. As a community, we need to be mindful to make good decisions for the future generations, with a clear focus on our children today," said the mayor.
