VCAT orders proposed Gauge Track waste transfer station process to be re-started with Cann River community by East Gippsland Shire Council
East Gippsland Shire Council will re-engage with the Cann River community on the provision of waste services in the district.
The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) this week decided to set aside the decision of the responsible authority (Council) and the planning permit for the proposed Gauge Track waste transfer station was sent back to the responsible authority (Council) for reconsideration.
Council have listened and heard concerns from the Cann Valley community about the development of the Transfer Station at Gauge Track off Tamboon Road
Council (as the permit applicant and responsible planning authority) does not oppose the matter being re-considered to ensure procedural requirements are met. An external review of how council might best deliver waste services for the Cann River community will now be undertaken. Exploration of possible sites and future waste service arrangements will re-commence with the Cann River community from late March.
