Melina Bath encourages local volunteer groups to apply for 2025 Victorian Landcare grants to enhance environment

Melina Bath urges local volunteer groups to apply for 2025 Victorian Landcare Grants, offering up to $20,000 for projects improving parks, waterways, biodiversity, and community engagement. Applications close April 16, 2025.

The Nationals' Member for Eastern Victoria, Melina Bath is encouraging local volunteer groups to apply for Victorian Landcare Grants. The 2025 Victorian Landcare Grants aim to improve local parks, waterways and reserves so Victorians can continue to experience the best of our great outdoors.

The 2025 Victorian Landcare Grants offer up to $20,000 to environmental groups for improving parks, waterways, and reserves

Grants to support landcare

Project grants of up to $20,000 are available to environmental volunteer groups, including Landcare groups and networks, Friends of groups, Coastcare, Aboriginal groups, Conservation Management Networks and Committees of Management.

Ms Bath who is also the Shadow Minister for Public Land Management said Landcare grants help protect, grow, and enhance our natural environment. "They are an excellent opportunity for our local volunteers to implement community based environmental projects aimed at improving biodiversity."

"By backing hands-on projects and fostering community involvement through grants we can improve our parks, waterways, and reserves for the enjoyment of future generations. As a regional MP I understand the critical role Landcare has in promoting sustainable land management practices, improving biodiversity, and enhancing the health of our local ecosystems," Ms Bath said.

Funding boosts landcare

Some of the successful projects funded in 2024 include:

• Tarwin Landcare Group -Tarwin Escarpment Restoration Project
• Latrobe Catchment Network - Learning with Landcare, inspiring the next generation of volunteers
• Gippsland Intrepid Landcare Bass Coast - engaging youth in Landcare
• Fish Creek Landcare - the Fish Creek Catchment Project

Recipients can use the grants under the following categories:

• On-ground works such as revegetation, artificial habitat creation, weed control, pest plant and animal control, protective fencing, and soil stabilisation
• Community education and engagement activities such as property planning courses, field days, education events, demonstration sites and knowledge-gathering (e.g. surveys)
• Group/network development activities such as developing a strategic plan, succession planning, and expanding the volunteer base
