Bass Coast Shire Council to pursue enforcement options if any local laws breached by new wind turbine on private property near surf beach
Bass Coast Shire Council is aware of the Wind Turbine installed on private property in Surf Beach in recent days, the council also understands and share the community's concerns about the turbine.
Council acknowledges that infrastructure of this height is not the desired aesthetic intended for our coastal townships. Construction of the wind turbine did not require planning approval. Council exhausted all available planning avenues including writing to the Minister for Planning to intervene.
The new wind turbine on private property near Bass Coast surf beach would have similar impacts like this wind turbine at Cullerin Range Wind Farm in New South Wales
Local law compliance
Now it has been erected, if it is found that the turbine breaches any compliance requirement or council's local law, such as:
- Height
- Noise
- Commercial in nature
- Used for advertising purposes, etc
The council will pursue all enforcement options available to ensure the breach is fully rectified.
