Darren Chester backs calls for pedestrian crossing at McNairn road in Traralgon
Securing federal funding to construct a safe pedestrian crossing at McNairn Road in Traralgon.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester is backing community efforts to build a safe pedestrian crossing at McNairn Road in Traralgon. Mr Chester is working with Latrobe City Council to secure Federal Government support for the much-needed safety improvements.
The council wrote to the Minister for Roads and Road Safety seeking an exemption to allow construction of a pedestrian crossing of the Gippsland Line railway at McNairn Road, Traralgon
Getting the work done
Mr Chester said, "The lack of safe access makes the railway crossing a danger to the public and I'm backing the council's plans to construct a pedestrian overpass as soon as possible. The State Government should have made this a priority as part of the Gippsland rail line upgrades. It hasn't happened and I've asked the Federal Minister to agree to get the work done as soon as possible."
