Gippsland Community Leaders honours 26 graduates in 2023 at Narkoojee Winery recognising their commitment to community empowerment

GCLP celebrated 26 graduates at Narkoojee Winery, acknowledging leaders' dedication in strengthening communities. Diverse projects tackled mental health, accessibility, diversity, youth leadership, and foster care importance.

The Gippsland Community Leadership Program (GCLP) celebrated 26 of its latest graduates at Narkoojee Winery recently, with a full house of leaders from across the region. Committee for Gippsland CEO Tony Cantwell said the graduation of the 2023 cohort means the region is further supported with passionate and dedicated leaders working towards ensuring their communities are strengthened well into the future.

Tony said, "GCLP now has well over 700 strong GCLP alumni leading our communities and taking an active role in helping shape a positive future for our region. Thank you to our program sponsors, program partners and industry leaders who continue to support us in developing the confidence and leadership capabilities of our participants throughout the program."

Impactful graduation projects

During the graduation ceremony, participants spoke about the impact of their community projects which addressed issues of mental health, accessibility for people with a disability, cultural diversity, youth leadership and raising awareness on the importance of foster caring.

Gippsland Community Leadership Program Manager Erika McInerney said she couldn't be prouder of this year's cohort. "This year participants delivered community projects that were diverse and spoke to their deep understanding of some of the challenges facing our most vulnerable communities."

"Throughout the year, they have all participated with curiosity and a real passion for our region and I know they will all continue to help strengthen Gippsland through community and industry leadership," Erika said.
