Maffra Lawn Tennis club gets new fences rewed with $130,000 grant in partnership with Wellington Shire Council
Unsafe fences have been replaced as part of a major redevelopment of Maffra Lawn Tennis Club.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester (pictured) secured a $130,000 grant to renew the fences in partnership with Wellington Shire Council. The historic club is undergoing a major transformation with off-court facilities to be totally revamped, including a new club room and changing facilities.
Dilapidated fences at Maffra Lawn Tennis Club will soon be replaced as part of a one million dollar Federal Government cash injection into Wellington Shire
Improving community facilities
Mr Chester said that the $130,000 grant from the federal government would be spent erecting new fences at the club in Duke Street to stimulate spending and support local jobs in drought-affected areas.
Maffra Lawn Tennis Club is a popular and active local club headed up by a hard-working and effective volunteer committee. The funding will help local groups to improve community facilities while also supporting Gippsland businesses and local jobs.
The funding from the federal government will give a chance to undertake a number of significant projects, so the communities can enjoy the benefits sooner.
