Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester, pictured at Laurina Lodge in Heyfield, said two facilities in Wellington would be able to improve care capacity and capabilities
"Improving infrastructure ensures facilities can cater to residents' needs and provide them with the best care. Gippslanders deserve to have exceptional facilities close to home, where families can visit loved ones and to ensure that the quality of care is appropriate." Mr Chester said.
Commitment to health and wellbeing
Mr Chester said Stretton Park in Maffra would be able to accommodate more residents to assist with the demand for aged care places. "Stretton Park in Maffra has also been allocated an additional four residential aged care places to help with the demand for beds," Mr Chester said.
"Growing capacities at local facilities means that when it is time for someone to go into aged care they can stay in a familiar environment. The focus for this latest round was priority areas with more than half of the new places allocated to areas most in need, including in regional and remote Australia. Gippsland is a great place to live and these investments are a commitment to the future health and wellbeing of our ageing population."
