Startup Gippsland Pitch Night to conclude for Business Igniter program at Gippsland Performing Arts Centre on 10 August 2022
Startup Gippsland is pleased to announce the 2022 Business Igniter Pitch Night, which will be held on Wednesday August 10 at the Gippsland Performing Arts Centre.
The Pitch Night marks the conclusion of Startup Gippsland's Business Igniter program and will see the 14 startups from across the six Gippsland LGAs pitch their businesses to eager investors and the local community.
Hear from Startup Gippsland's 2022 Business Igniter cohort as they pitch their startups to experts and the audience
Range of industries and sectors
Over the past four months, the founders have attended weekend intensive sessions held across each shire area and gained specialised support and assistance from a number of local mentors and industry experts.
They've learnt the business fundamentals required to develop their idea, discovered digital and technology platforms that can be implemented in their businesses, and have built confidence in their capabilities as a startup founder. In addition to this, program participants have built a strong support network, which focuses on collaboration over competition.
This year's cohort of startups come all across Gippsland with business ideas in a wide range of industries and sectors including:
- Health
- Manufacturing
- IT and education
- Agriculture
Particularly exciting ideas include a sustainable, waste-free alternative to traditional toothpaste, a platform for farmers and landowners to offset their carbon footprint, and a shopping service connecting people with access issues to local retailers.
Pitch Night 2022
The Pitch Night will see each of the 14 startups pitch their businesses to a panel of industry experts, local government, and potential investors. This is a key opportunity for the founders to seek investment and support and take the next steps for their businesses.
The event will also feature a keynote speech by Katie Dawson, a graduate of Startup Gippsland's 2020 Incubator and 2021 Scale Up program, and founder of Cottage Garden Threads.
Mayor of Latrobe City Council Cr Kellie O'Callaghan encouraged the community to support the event. "For attendees, this is an exciting look into Gippsland's thriving startup scene, letting them be the first to hear about these brand-new businesses and potentially gain inspiration for their own businesses. It's also an opportunity for the cohort to put their business into the spotlight and share their work," said Cr. O'Callaghan.
