Latrobe City Council releases advocacy campaign for 2022 Victoria Election focusing on economic transformation and diversification
Latrobe City Council is prepared for the state election, after releasing a State Advocacy Booklet and online Advocacy Hub that highlights key priorities requiring investment or support for the local community.
The advocacy priorities cover key themes including Economy and Employment; Education, Health and Wellbeing; and Liveability and Connectivity. A of the advocacy campaigns are priorities that drive economic transformation and diversification of the region following the global shift from fossil fuels.
The focus of the advocacy campaign for 2022 Victorian Election is to enhance the regional city's liveability, economy and overall health in alignment with the Council Plan and Community Vision
Support in transition
Priorities that support Latrobe's transition include harnessing renewable energy and hydrogen technologies to drive Latrobe City's New Energy Future and a 50-thousand tonne Gippsland Material Recovery Facility in Morwell.
Both priorities will provide new employment opportunities for locals and bring new industries into the region. The State Advocacy Booklet and online Advocacy Hub provide a strong message of how the government can partner with Latrobe City and provide focus for State Government efforts in the lead up to the election.
Further strengthen the region
Mayor of Latrobe City, Councillor Kellie O'Callaghan said it was vital that council provided advocacy leadership during this time to create positive outcomes for Latrobe City. "Council is committed to highlighting priorities that align with our community's aspirations and will create positive change for our City."
"The upcoming state election is an opportunity to further strengthen Latrobe City's voice - making it clear exactly what our community needs as we navigate a period of change. We call all candidates and members to review our priorities and consider how they can support these efforts."
"We look forward to working with our government partners to make these goals a reality, securing an even brighter future for all that call Latrobe City home," said Cr. O'Callaghan.
