Farming for Success 2022 conference at Laurels Function Centre at the Sale Turf Club on 8 March 2022
Diverse stories of innovation and growth in the agriculture industry were detailed at the Farming for Success 2022 conference hosted by Wellington Shire Council this week.
The full-day conference brought together local farmers and industry representatives to hear from a range of guest speakers from the Gippsland region and beyond. Wellington Shire Council Mayor Ian Bye said it was great to be part of an event that allowed people from the sector to come together and share their ideas in person.

Contribution to the industry
Cr Bye said, "It was fantastic to hear so many stories of industry working together to overcome adversity, which has led to exciting innovations being developed right here in our own backyard. I'm sure many of those working within the agricultural sector came away from the conference inspired by these stories and ideas."
Keynote speaker at the conference was Wagner Corporation Executive General Manager, Damian Bell, who gave an overview of the Queensland-based company's history and operations. The conference was also an opportunity for Wellington Shire Council to acknowledge local quiet achievers for their dedicated service, contribution and work in the industry.
Those recognised were Melissa Ainsworth, Ray Akers, Gerry Davis, Terry Higgins, Jeanette Howie and Phil Taylor. This year's event was the second Farming for Success Agriculture Conference held by Wellington Shire Council. It was funded by Regional Development Victoria, Invest Gippsland.
