Baw Baw Shire Council meeting snapshot held on Wednesday 11 June 2025

Council adopted the 2025/26 Annual Budget, endorsed new Shire entry signage, addressed homelessness prevention, and passed a bereavement motion honouring Jonathan Neilson's contribution to the Baw Baw community.

Development, grants and advocacy

Baw Baw Shire Entry Signage - council endorsed the designs to be used at the M1 Shire entrance locations.

Strategy and performance

Adoption of the Annual Budget 2025/26, Revenue and Rating Plan 2025/26 and Capital Works Program 2025/26. Council adopted:

General business motion

Homelessness in Baw Baw Shire

  • Council received the report in response to the General Business Motion raised by Cr Lucas at the 23 April 2025 Council Meeting. Council moved to:
  • Continue initiatives which support the prevention of homelessness through the delivery of the Council Plan and the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan
  • Will consider community strengthening priorities, such as homelessness, when developing council's Advocacy Priorities

General business

Bereavement Motion - Jonathan Neilson

Cr Goss moved a bereavement motion, requesting that council extend its sincere condolences to the family of Jonathan Neilson on his recent passing and write a letter of condolence on behalf of council to his family.

Cr Goss spoke about his friendship with Jonathan and shared memories about his professionalism and passion for making Baw Baw a better place for the future, and sent his well wishes to Jonathan's wife Jayne and their children.

Council meetings open

Baw Baw Shire Council's council meetings are open to the public and are held at the West Gippsland Arts Centre. Council Meetings will commence at 5:30pm on the second Wednesday of the month, and 1:00pm on the fourth Wednesday of the month.

All council meetings will be live-streamed, and archived recordings will be available on the council website for viewing. The agenda for the next meeting will be available online the Friday prior to the meeting.
