Bass Coast launches Living Lightly Bass Coast: Sustainable skills, energy, gardening, Future Foods and Circular Solutions workshops
Bass Coast Shire Council launches Living Lightly Bass Coast, a free workshop series on sustainability. Covering energy, food, gardening, and circular solutions, the workshops offer practical skills for greener living.
Are you interested in growing veggies? Do you want to learn about solar panels and home batteries? Are you trying to live a more sustainable life? Then we've got something for you! Bass Coast Shire Council is excited to launch Living Lightly Bass Coast - a series of workshops to help you learn new skills to live more sustainably.
Participants at last year's Garden Gems workshop get their hands dirty, learning from permaculture expert Rick Coleman. Building on the success of Garden Gems and the Sustainable Living Series, Living Lightly Bass Coast launches with an expanded new lineup of workshops covering Energy Evolution, Future Foods, Garden Gems and Circular Solutions
Sustainability workshop series
The workshops come under four different themes: Energy Evolution, Future Foods, Garden Gems and Circular Solutions and build on the success of last year's Garden Gems program and Sustainable Living Series. Workshops will be presented by experts that will focus on making homes and communities more affordable, sustainable and resilient.
We're pleased to be partnering with Bass Coast Adult Learning (BCAL) South Gippsland Shire Council, Renew, South Gippsland Beekeepers, Wonthaggi Library, Inverloch Community House, Wonthaggi Men's Shed and the eight community gardens across Bass Coast to bring these workshops to life.
Free sustainability workshops
Bass Coast Mayor Cr Rochelle Halstead was excited at the variety of topics covered and opportunities offered by the series. "There's 40 workshops spread throughout the year with so many different and worthwhile subjects covered, there's something for everyone!"
"I'm looking forward to getting my hands dirty at one of the gardening workshops later in the year. I encourage everyone to take advantage of these free workshops and learn something to help you live greener and lighten the load on our planet," Cr Halstead said.
All the workshops are free (except for Sustainable House Day) and a mix of in-person and online. Bookings are essential. Visit Living Lightly Bass Coast website to check out the full schedule and secure your place.
