Mural honours resilience

The striking mural celebrates the dedication of local firefighting volunteers and is part of a broader bushfire recovery program aimed at revitalising community spaces affected by the Black Summer bushfires. It has already become a talking point among residents and visitors, offering both aesthetic value and a strong message of community spirit.

A spokesperson for the Johnsonville Fire Brigade said the project has breathed new life into the site. "We wanted to do something that would lift spirits and turn an eyesore into a landmark. Simon's mural has done just that."

Council acknowledges the essential support of Jarvis Norwood Constructions in providing logistical assistance throughout the project. The hope is that the newly transformed tank now stands as a lasting symbol of resilience, community pride, and the power of collaboration while also deterring vandals.
