Sun Cinema in Bairnsdale receives $60,000 as financial boost thanks to federal government SCREEN fund
A Gippsland independent cinema has received a financial boost thanks to the federal government's SCREEN Fund.
Member for Gippsland Darren Chester said Sun Cinema in Bairnsdale received $60,000 as one-off financial relief due to the impacts of COVID-19 on cinema operators. "Cinemas throughout Gippsland, especially independent ones, were severely impacted by COVID-19 restrictions and faced extended closures."
The SCREEN Fund is a grant that provides funding to independent cinemas who have had significant declines in revenue due to COVID-19
Mr Chester said, "Unlike many other businesses facing closures cinemas were unable to find other ways of offering their service or takeaway models. This additional support will help the business return to normal trading and offer the community an accessible and enjoyable experience."
