Nominations open for Bass Coast Community Awards until 18 April 2024
Bass Coast Shire Council Mayor, Cr Clare Le Serve, highlights the significance of the Community Awards, honouring those who contribute to the region's vitality through dedication and volunteering.
Bass Coast Shire Council today opened nominations for the 2024 Bass Coast Community Awards which honour outstanding individuals from across our community. Nominations close on 18 April and the judging panel will then select the winners who will be celebrated at a presentation ceremony on 30 May, to align with National Volunteer Week.

Community recognition event
The Community Awards complement council's Bass Coast Business awards, which also open for entries. Bass Coast Shire Council Mayor Cr Clare Le Serve said the Community Awards have quickly established themselves as a significant celebration on the region's calendar.
"It is important for our community to honour those people who through their hard work and passion are the heart and soul of the region. Volunteering is critical to keeping our community running and shows we care for each other," Cr Le Serve said.
Awards categories and nominations
The 2024 Community Awards include:
Community Leader Award (all ages)
For an individual who - in their profession or as a volunteer - leads by example, inspires others and demonstrates excellence and commitment in their field.
Next Generation Leader Award (aged 12 to 25)
Celebrates an exceptional young person(s) who demonstrates leadership and courage, to make an outstanding contribution to the Bass Coast Community that inspires others.
Community Group Award
Recognises a Bass Coast community group, sports club, or not-for-profit, which provides support, events, fundraising or services for the benefit of residents and visitors.
Contribution to Arts and Culture Award
For those who have made an exceptional contribution to the arts and cultural life of the community or a remarkable achievement in an arts and cultural activity. This can include, but is not limited to individuals, organisations, events and exhibitions.
