Smart Enough Factory program for Latrobe City small to medium businesses gets $1.36M funding from Victorian government
The Smart Enough Factory program got underway in Latrobe City recently, supporting manufacturers to bring digital technologies into their operations to drive value and productivity.
The Victorian government has provided $1.36 million in funding for the program, which will support small to medium-sized businesses Victoria's defence industry to modernise design and manufacturing processes. Delivered by DMTC Limited (previously known as the Defence Materials Technology Centre), the program will help businesses adopt digital technologies, overcome barriers such as costs, skill shortages or security vulnerabilities, and create opportunities to enter defence supply chains.

Becoming more competitive
Mayor of Latrobe City Councillor Kellie O'Callaghan said the program would further strengthen Latrobe City's growing defence manufacturing capabilities. "The Smart Enough Factory program combines the latest digital technology with practical advice to allow manufacturers to boost efficiency and measure their outputs."
"The program will help to position Latrobe City's place in the defence manufacturing supply chain, allowing our businesses to become more competitive in the market. We look forward to seeing the outcomes of the program for manufacturers both in Latrobe City and the broader Gippsland region," said the Mayor.
