Responses will be collated, reviewed and updated to the Draft Asset Plan as necessary before being presented to council for adoption mid-year.
Investing in adequate funding
Mayor Cr Michael Leaney said, "Our region is facing several obstacles with population growth, changing demographics, ageing Infrastructure and the continuous rising of cost of services, and these are only set to increase."
"With these challenges comes the need to review our assets to make sure they continue to meet the needs of our community. It is vital for the council to invest in adequate funding towards the maintenance and delivery of our assets now and into the future. I encourage our community to review this document and let us know how you think council can improve its asset management". Cr Leaney said.
Reassurance to the assets
Deputy Mayor Cr Annemarie McCabe said, "The document is a detailed yet simplistic look at what council currently owns and what is required to budget for to maintain these assets on behalf of our community."
"The draft asset plan is a reassurance that our assets, valued at millions of dollars, will be suitable for many years to come. I look forward to receiving valuable feedback from the community on this draft and eventually adopting the final document." The Deputy Mayor said.
Looking forward to submissions
Cr Darren Wallace said, "Strategic asset management is a long journey, and this draft asset plan is just one step in that journey. The document details how council's assets such as playgrounds, sporting facilities, bridges and roads are managed.
Asset management is vital in extracting the lifespan of every asset and in making council's renewal dollar stretch even further than it currently does. I look forward to reading the submissions we receive on this draft document as it goes out for exhibition". Cr Wallace said.
