Darren Chester welcomed 28 new Australian citizens at Latrobe City Council's recent Citizenship Ceremony. Chester emphasised the importance of Australian values like freedom, respect, and fairness in strengthening the community.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester joined local leaders in welcoming Latrobe Valley's newest Australian citizens at Latrobe City Council's recent Citizenship Ceremony. "Citizenship ceremonies are among the great traditions of our nation, and attending these events is a privilege in my work as a parliamentarian."
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester joined Latrobe City Council Mayor Councillor Darren Howe, Member for Morwell Martin Cameron and Latrobe City Council 2024 Citizens of the Year Alf and Stella Vella in welcoming Latrobe Valley's newest Australian citizens at Latrobe City Council's recent Citizenship Ceremony
Mr Chester said, "Australian values based on freedom, respect, fairness, and equality of opportunity are central to our community remaining a secure, prosperous and peaceful place to live. Twenty-eight people pledged allegiance to Australia, assumed our nation's values and received citizenship, and I welcome the new Australians who are going to make our community even stronger."
The Citizenship Ceremony was led by Latrobe City Council Mayor Councillor Darren Howe, with addresses from Mr Chester, Member for Morwell Martin Cameron and Latrobe City Council 2024 Citizens of the Year Alf and Stella Vella.
