Development and satisfaction

Ms Wastie said, "This is a celebration of the progressive organisation that we are a part of, the innovative ideas that we bring to the table and the culture that we have developed, and it shows how much we have to offer our employees."

"We are seeing a large number of applicants for each advertised role and as a result we are recruiting highly talented and motivated individuals from a range of diverse backgrounds and experiences. We have a strong focus on developing our own people and our employee satisfaction results are well above industry average." Ms Wastie continued.

Ground-breaking policy

Ms Wastie said that a number of initiatives that the council has been working on in the past 12 months contributed to receiving this Award. "Our ground-breaking policy to provide 16 weeks of:

  • Paid parental leave for all new parents
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Ongoing climate emergency response
  • Work towards improving gender equality within our organisation and community

With milestone policies such as equal prize money for all competitors at sporting events, our work to implement customer at centre principles across the whole organisation. These are just some of the examples of the changes we've made that we're really proud of, and are being celebrated by this Award," Ms Wastie said.

"I am very proud of the whole organisation, this award is well deserved and an excellent indication that we are heading in the right direction as a workplace, and that we are setting the bar high for others in the sector to follow," Ms Wastie concluded.
