Opportunity to get involved in discussions

The PRG will be made up of 14 representatives from key community and business groups, council and industry representatives. Council is seeking to include members of the community to ensure a fair and equitable representation of local voices. Their role is to provide local insights, contribute to discussions and provide recommendations to Council in the spirit of achieving the best project outcome.

The PRG will meet on a semi-regular basis to consider and discuss selected and arising topics throughout all stages of the project. This is a great opportunity to be involved in the council's largest ever single project which will have a positive impact on the community for generations to come.

The project is the largest in council's history valued at $30 million and aims to address the lack of community facilities and aging and underutilised community spaces. The scope for the project includes a multi-level facility with new community library with reading/study zones, a gallery and cultural space, community meeting rooms, co-working areas, cafe, rooftop terrace - all with accessible amenities, underground car parking and pedestrian connections to surrounds.

How to apply

Community members seeking to express their interest are invited to send their contact details and a brief explanation as to why you would be a suitable candidate via email to major.projects@bawbawshire.vic.gov.au by Friday 11 February 2022. Enquiries can be made to the same email address or by phone on 1300 229 229.

Ensuring locals voices are heard

Mayor Cr Michael Leaney said, "This is unique and exciting opportunity for two community members to join the inner-workings of council's largest project ever. We want to bring our community on this journey and make sure local voices are heard throughout each stage of this project. If you're looking for an opportunity to make a direct impact on a major piece of community infrastructure, we would love to hear from you."
