Chester praised Mallacoota District Health and Support Service CEO Anne Mwagiru and team for advancing vital community health initiatives
A new respite facility in Mallacoota will support vulnerable residents locally, enabling recovery in a safe, home-like environment, praised by Federal MP Darren Chester and MDHSS leadership.
The establishment of a new purpose-built respite facility will soon provide vulnerable and elderly Mallacoota and district residents more opportunities to stay in their community and receive support from local healthcare service providers.

Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester has praised the work of Mallacoota District Health and Support Service (MDHSS) Chief Executive Officer Anne Mwagiru and her team as they continue to drive initiatives instrumental in providing ongoing health and wellbeing for the community.
"The team at MDHSS are very focused on helping locals live their best lives in the community they love. The development of a new purpose-built respite facility will allow residents who are released from hospital after surgery, or other treatment, to return to their hometown and be supported in a home-like environment, which reduces the chances of falls, which would be a setback in their recovery."
"Well done to the staff and everyone involved in developing this project, which will help local families for years to come," Mr Chester said. Darren Chester commends work done with Mallacoota District Health and Support Service (MDHSS) to vulnerable community members, including people with chronic illnesses, older adults, and those living with physical or mental health disabilities.
