Darren Chester secured $6.5M funding for Marine Parade in Lakes Entrance through federal government grant
One of Lakes Entrance's busiest roads will receive a $6.5 million facelift thanks to a Federal Government grant.
Member for Gippsland Darren Chester has secured the funding on behalf of East Gippsland Shire Council, which will manage the project. "With the major transformation of The Esplanade, it's been obvious that Marine Parade needs to be upgraded to improve the safety and amenity for locals and visitors," Mr Chester said.

Expanded scope of works required
Mr Chester also said, "I've had some preliminary consultation with business owners and residents and there's no doubt the original plans for a small upgrade wouldn't achieve the outcome they were looking for. An expanded scope of works is required to deliver intersection upgrades, road widening, asphalt resurfacing, kerb and channel replacement and pedestrian safety improvements."
Mr Chester said the project was part of the ongoing transformation of Lakes Entrance. "I will be working closely with the council and the community to develop a project that delivers long-term benefits for Lakes Entrance. We've been able to secure record funding from all levels of government for projects from Kalimna to Eastern Beach and it's making a real difference to our town," Mr Chester said.
