Darren Chester celebrated with the locals on the transformation of Lakes Entrance old slipway into a vibrant community space
Federal Member Darren Chester celebrated the Lakes Entrance slipway precinct opening, transforming it from derelict to vibrant with local businesses, arts, and government support enhancing the community space.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester has welcomed today's official opening of the slipway precinct in Lakes Entrance. "From an eyesore to an icon, the Old Slipway in Lakes Entrance is now a vibrant public space with local businesses and the arts community combining to provide a great attraction for locals and visitors."

"It's been more than 20 years since the slipway moved from the centre of town and the site was left derelict with the winch sheds falling down and nothing useful happening at the location in the heart of town. But with funding from all levels of government and inspiration from local business and community leaders, the site has been transformed.
"The winch sheds are being used for live music and artistic endeavours while the deck area overlooking Cunninghame Arm is the perfect spot to relax with some fine food and drinks from the traders out the front," Mr Chester said.
