Expressions of interest open for Baw Baw Shire Council advisory committees until 15 July 2022
Council is currently seeking expressions of interest from community members looking to join three Advisory Committees to help inform and influence future council decisions.
There is an opportunity for community members to join the Early Years Committee, Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee and Healthy in Baw Baw Advisory Committee with expressions of interest open until Friday July 15. Each Advisory Committee has a minimum of five members, with at least two councillor representatives and three to eight community members, selected based on their skills, equity, and diversity.
Interviews may be conducted to select successful members, all membership appointments will be confirmed by a council decision
Early years advisory committee
The role of the Early Years Advisory Committee is to provide information and advice to council on Early Years matters in multiple areas including:
- Play spaces for children (indoor and outdoor)
- Occasional care
- All abilities facilities
- Playgroups
- Kindergartens
- Indigenous early years literacy & health
- Supporting development in the 0-3 years age bracket
Current Councillor Representatives are Cr Gauci, and Cr Goss.
Access and inclusion
The role of the Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee is to provide council with links to the broader aged and disability communities and explore matters that impact older people within the municipality, particularly in relation to the promotion of wellbeing of older people. The committee also explores issues impacting people with a disability living in, working in, or visiting Baw Baw Shire. Current Councillor Representatives are Cr Jones, and Cr Tauru.
Healthy in Baw Baw
The Healthy in Baw Baw Advisory Committee was created to assist council with its responsibilities under section 26 of the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008. It is responsible for providing appropriate advice and recommendations on matters relevant to its Terms of Reference in order to facilitate decision making by council. It was established to:
- Prepare the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan
- Identify strategies and actions for implementation of the Plan
- Review implementation of progress of the plan
- Evaluate the Plan
Current Councillor Representatives are Cr Tauru, and Cr McCabe.
Submit an expression of interest
Interested community members are encouraged to apply via email outlining why they wish to join an Advisory Committee/s and what skills or perspectives they can offer an Advisory Committee/s, along with a current resume (optional) to baw.baw@bawbawshire.vic.gov.au.
