Darren Chester commits $400,000 to upgrade Maffra Cameron Sporting Complex, boosting women's sport and community participation
A $400,000 federal election pledge will upgrade Maffra Cameron Sporting Complex, boosting access and opportunities for women, girls, and families in local sport and recreation.
Cameron Sporting Complex in Maffra will receive a major boost to bolster the participation of women and girls in sports under a Coalition government. Gippsland MP Darren Chester has announced a $400,000 funding guarantee for the upgrade of the pavilion facilities if the Coalition wins the federal election.

Sporting complex upgrade
Mr Chester said, "The Cameron Sporting Complex is a significant precinct and home to a number of community sporting clubs, however the existing change room facilities at the main oval do not meet modern standards and fail to provide a safe and accessible environment for all sporting participants and visitors. The facilities at the Main Oval Pavillion don't meet the growing needs of the community."
Mr Chester said the redevelopment project is well-designed and ready for federal government investment to bring it up to modern standards. "This upgrade would encourage participation and enable greater sporting opportunities for women and girls locally and ensure Cameron Sporting Complex remains a hub for local sport and recreation for families and sporting groups," he said.
"Providing opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle means investing in new facilities. Wellington Shire Council is actively sourcing funding to add to the project, along with the community contribution," said Mr Chester.
