Leanne Hurst appointed as Director of Planning and Development for Baw Baw Shire Council
Baw Baw Shire appoints a new director for planning and development.
Baw Baw Shire Council is delighted to announce the appointment of Leanne Hurst as Director Planning and Development. Ms Hurst's appointment follows a thorough recruitment process led by Camden Search and Selection. She joins Baw Baw Shire Council as an experienced local government professional with 25 years in the sector. She has led diverse teams of people in both rural and urban councils.

Taking up the new position
Most recently, Ms Hurst served as the General Manager Community and Place at the City of Launceston where she was responsible for directing the Council's externally facing services, including City Development, Community Relations and Liveable Communities. She is passionate about the connections between people and place and the role that local government has in working with communities to help them to achieve their future vision.
"I'm looking forward to joining the progressive team at Baw Baw Shire Council," says Ms Hurst. "I'm excited at the opportunities presented by leading the Council's Planning and Development services during a period of significant population growth." Ms Hurst will take up her new position from 20 December 2021.

Chief Executive Officer, Mark Dupe said, "It is with great pleasure that I announce this appointment. Ms Hurst brings with her a wealth of experience in planning, development and delivering liveable communities. Baw Baw Shire is one of the fastest growing municipalities in Victoria.
"Ms Hurst has the expertise and the background to hit the ground running. I know she's enthusiastic about getting started and so are we. On behalf of Baw Baw Shire Council, I'd like to welcome her to the team. I look forward to working with her to deliver great planning outcomes for our community." Mr Dupe said.
