Bairnsdale residents getting improved access to Centrelink and Medicare services
Bairnsdale residents will have improved access to Centrelink and Medicare services when the Services Australia Service Centre in Bairnsdale undergoes an upgrade.
The service centre at 60-62 Macleod Street will be modernised to have a new contemporary look and feel, with the refurbishment scheduled for completion in December 2021.
Customers will benefit from upgraded self-service facilities and the ability to book appointments to receive personalised digital support
Booking an appointment
Minister for Government Services, Senator the Hon Linda Reynolds CSC said the upgrade reflects the government's commitment to transforming and modernising services.
"Customers can book appointments for Centrelink services at the upgraded service centre. Customers are encouraged to complete their Centrelink and Medicare business online if they're able, but Services Australia staff are still available for those who need extra support." Minister Reynolds said.
Providing options for locals
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester welcomed the transformation, which will give Bairnsdale residents access to state-of-the-art government services. To book an appointment for Centrelink services, customers can call their regular payment line, or visit the service centre and return at a time that suits them.
"These improvements put the community at the heart of government services and provide locals with options to do their business with Services Australia in ways that best suit their needs," Mr Chester said.
Work on the Bairnsdale Service Centre will take place after hours to minimise disruption, with the service centre continuing to operate Monday to Friday from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm.
