Applications open for South Gippsland 2025 Community Leadership Program, boosting leadership skills until 2 February 2025
The 2025 South Coast Community Leadership Program offers a free six-month course to build leadership skills. Open to Bass Coast and South Gippsland residents, applications close 2 February 2025.
Are you passionate about your community and ready to take your skills to the next level? The 2025 South Coast Community Leadership Program is a free and exciting six-month course designed to help participants build their leadership skills, explore new ways of leading and connect with other like minded local people. For the first time the program will have participants from Bass Coast Shire as well as South Gippsland Shire thanks to a partnership between the councils.
The 2025 program includes 11 intensive sessions from March to August across Bass Coast and South Gippsland, with pre-session activities. It's free, but places are limited
Leadership program applications
The program will run from Saturday, 15 March until Sunday, 10 August and consist of professionally facilitated workshops to be held in towns across the two Shires. The workshops will cover a range of topics including emotional intelligence, creating community projects, community engagement and storytelling. Applications for the Program close on Sunday, 2 February 2025.
The Program is open to individuals aged 18 and over. Participants must live, work or volunteer locally in Bass Coast or South Gippsland. To apply and for more information, please visit South Coast Community Leadership Program website.
Fostering community leadership
Councillor John Schelling, Mayor South Gippsland Shire Council said, "I am thrilled to see the Community Leadership Program take place once again and look forward to seeing how the Program evolves with the collaboration between our two councils.
"Programs like this help strengthen our communities, growing respectful and dignified leaders who enhance our workplaces, community groups and other community-focused organisations and activities. I would encourage anyone with a desire to be an effective leader to apply for this invaluable opportunity," he said.
Empowering local leaders
Cr Rochelle Halstead, Mayor Bass Coast Shire Council said, "We're excited to be partnering with South Gippsland Shire Council on this fantastic program. Supporting leadership skills and development is a win-win. It's great for the person involved and it is fantastic to have those skills in our communities."
"We're looking for applications from anyone who has a real passion for their community and would benefit from this program. Often our wonderful community leaders don't see themselves as a leader or are reluctant to nominate for a program like this. If you know someone who would be well suited to this amazing opportunity, then please encourage them to submit an application," she said.
