Have your say and help shape Baw Baw Domestic Animal Management Plan 2026 - 2029 round 2 by 29 June 2025
Baw Baw Shire Council is seeking community feedback on the draft Domestic Animal Management Plan 2026 - 2029. Have your say by 29 June to help shape responsible animal management.
Baw Baw Shire Council is inviting the community to have their say on round 2 consultation for the draft Domestic Animal Management Plan 2026-2029, now open for further feedback. The Domestic Animal Management Plan (DAMP) outlines council's approach to managing dogs and cats in the community over the next four years. It focuses on three core areas:
- Promoting responsible pet ownership
- Supporting the welfare of dogs and cats
- Protecting the community and environment from nuisance animals
Earlier this year, Council sought community input during the first stage of engagement and received valuable feedback from 79 participants. This input has directly shaped the draft DAMP that is now available for review.

At its meeting on 28 May 2025, Council endorsed the draft DAMP for public exhibition and is now seeking further feedback from the community. Under State Government legislation, every Victorian council must review and renew its DAMP every four years. This review ensures that the plan reflects current community needs and expectations, while maintaining public safety and animal welfare.
Deputy Mayor Councillor Tricia Jones is encouraging residents to get involved in the second round of community consultation. "Whether you're a pet owner, an animal lover or someone who simply wants to enjoy a safe and respectful community environment, your voice matters."
"This is your opportunity to help guide how we manage domestic animals across Baw Baw Shire for the next four years. We want to hear from you to finalise the DAMP, so have your say, your way," said Cr Jones.
